Like any good project, Woodstone Farm is and always will be a work in progress.
A small acreage farm on the northern fringes of Perth. An experiment (hopefully a successful one) in organic food growing and community skill sharing.
SO WHAT EXACTLY IS WOODSTONE:

SO WHAT EXACTLY IS WOODSTONE:
Well, it's a place where we live and work & share this space with our community, it all revolves around set of ideas:
|
Woodstone farm a place where people can learn new skills, explore ideas and engage with the land in a way that is restorative, enriching and viable in not only the short term but in the very distant future.
At Woodstone we grow food, preserve bountiful harvests and nurture animals using organic methods of production. Perth has some of the most nutrient deficient soils in the world, and the land our farm is situated is home to the worst of Perth soils, and that is saying something. So we have a work cut out for us. And this soil building game is going to take time. So, we use a range of natural farming practices and plan to continue to explore and implement many more that can be categorised as organic, biologically sensitive, regenerative, or bio-dynamic. We are not certified organic, maybe we will be one day, but for now we just want to grow good food in soil teaming with life, without all the chemicals. Many of these ideas & practices we are learning along the way, we have a great workshop space set up on the farm and have managed to reign in a few talented Humans who are working to pass on their skills expand our knowledge base, so we hope you can join us sometime for a class or workshop. |
So who is WOODSTONE FARM?
Hi, we are Meegan and Brett Woodstone, we live on the farm with our son Huon , our daughter Tiana, two dogs Tess and Lucky and a good number of chooks, from time to time some Sheep, and of course we must make mention to Redggie the Rooster. We share a passion for the simple things in life ... Growing healthy and nourishing food; learning and sharing hands on skills; ethical and sustainable farming practices; time for family and friends and a love for the land and the oceans on which we live our lives on this planet we call home. |
We have been mulling over the idea of Woodstone for some time.
At first (as many will attest) we didn't really know what we wanted it to be (to be honest we still don't) or even what it was that we wanted. We just knew that this project of ours had to incorporate many of the ideas, issues and dreams that we had stumbled across and become passionate about over the last decade.
And we are passionate about this life we are creating for ourselves, but we are not doing this on our own... we are dragging a small army along for the ride, made up of family, friends and strangers we are still yet to meet.

We want Woodstone to be a space where people feel welcome, a place where people can explore ideas, projects and dreams that go beyond ‘sustainability’ in a supported environment.
This a very new project, things may happen slowly at first but with the right care big steps can happen at opportune times.
In the very first phase, we are trying to be patient and we need to take baby steps, we do not want to experience burnout in the first few years because we have taken on too much from the start. So, as time goes on and the space evolves there will be new opportunities for community involvement, workshops and project spaces so keep your eyes and ears open.
We look forward to meeting you.
