Who’s the Teacher:
Leading you through the world of weeds will be Steve Aldrige from Wild Movement Perth. Steve has a passion for learning and researching all that he can about the environment that surrounds him. He has a wealth of knowledge in a variety of areas and his manner of teaching is easy to follow and engaging. His constant search for knowledge and a deeper connection with the natural world is contagious; you cannot help but feel inspired to connect more with the environment around you after having a conversation with Steve.
Steve’s knowledge of foraged foods extends further than the paddocks of Ellenby Tree Farm, Steve has spent the last decade researching a way of life that can feed and sustain him without needing to browse the shelves of the local supermarket. Wild Movement Perth is all about developing a deep connection with nature and ecology. Foraging for wild plant foods is a daily part of Steve’s life most of the greens his family eats on a daily basis are wild greens gathered from our local ecosystem.
About the venue & what do I need to Bring:
The Woodstone Farm property is located in Gnangara within the confines of an established Tree Nursery. Ellenby Tree Farm is a separate business to Woodstone Farm, however the Tree Farm is in the process of converting to organic farming methods. Ellenby currently do not use spray to control the weeds, instead they use slashing and other cultivating techniques and animal systems to grow advanced trees on the Gnangara property. Fortunately this gives us the opportunity to offer a foraging course without the risk of picking chemically sprayed weeds.

This workshop will be very hands on and most of the workshop time will be carried out in the paddocks, so please come prepared and expecting to get your hands dirty.

Woodstone Farm & Ellenby Tree farm are both working farms, and you will therefore need to bring enclosed shoes and practical clothing for a day in the fields. There is limited shelter in the paddocks so please bring hats, raincoats and any other wet or warm weather gear you require.
